Good News

At Chiquola Baptist Church, we believe in One God in Three Persons… Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus is THE WORD (John 1:1-14) and the Holy Bible is the inspired written word of God. We band ourselves together as a body of baptized believers, followers of Jesus. We are personally committed to sharing the Gospel, the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

1. We believe that God loves all people.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16 (ESV)

2. All people are sinners.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Romans 3:23 (ESV)

3. The consequence of sin is death.

“for the wages of sin is death…”

Romans 6:23a (ESV)

4.Forgiveness of sin requires a sacrifice.

“…without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”

Hebrews 9:22 (ESV)

5.God proved His love for us by allowing His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins-in our place.

“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:8 (ESV)

6. Because of Jesus’ sacrificial death, God offers us forgiveness of sin.

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses,

according to the riches of his grace.”

Ephesians 1:7 (ESV)

7. Our response

Repent-   “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out…”

Acts 3:19 (ESV)

Repentance means to turn away from your sins,

turn to God and accept His forgiveness.

Confess-      “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9 (ESV)

Confess means “to agree with, to act on.”

Confessing our sin means we agree we are guilty sinners in need of a Savior.

“…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord…”

Romans 10:9a (ESV)

Confessing “Jesus is Lord” means that you are placing Him first in your life,

that He is the one you will obey and follow

Believe-         “…believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,

you will be saved.”

Romans 19:9b (ESV)

Jesus Is alive! On the third day after his crucifixion,

He rose from the dead to live forevermore.

“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”

Luke 24:5b-7 (ESV)

He offers eternal life with Him to all who believe in Him as Lord and Savior.

In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son

be the propitiation (atoning sacrifice) for our sins.

1 John 4:10 (ESV)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him

should not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16 (ESV)

“…but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 6:23b (ESV)

8. What does “We are Saved” mean?

Saved from slavery to sin.

We no longer have to be bound by the power of sin

that leads to broken relationships, lost trust, feelings of worthlessness and addictions.

“But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God,

the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.

Romans 6:22 (ESV)

Saved to an abundant life.

Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

John 10:10 (ESV)

Saved from the ultimate result of sin.

“For the wages of sin is death,

but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23 (ESV)

Saved to eternal life with Jesus!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only

Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16 (ESV)

9. Are you willing to accept Jesus and follow Him as Lord?

Sincerely pray (talk and listen to God) from your heart, in your own words.

If you need help, you can use the following prayer as a model.

“Jesus, thank You for loving me.

I confess my sins to you. Thank You for dying in my place, for my sins.

I repent (admit, renounce and turn away) of my sins and ask for forgiveness.

I confess that I want You as Lord (one in charge) of my life.

I believe in Your resurrection from the dead and that You are alive forevermore.

I wholly trust You with my life, and ask You to help me live a full, meaningful life

here on earth… and in heaven with you eternally.

Help me to be all you created me to be.

Amen (so be it)

10. Welcome to God’s family!

The Bible promises the Holy Spirit as a holy compass to guide and comfort you.

“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the

forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 (ESV)

Believer’s baptism is a symbolic act.

It shows you have asked Jesus for forgiveness

of your sins and are showing publicly that you intend to follow Him.

The Bible instructs Jesus’ followers to meet together.

We meet for worship, fellowship

and encouragement… It will help you grow in your faith in Jesus and serve Him.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised

is faithful… let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

not neglecting to meet together, but encouraging one another…”

Hebrews 10:23-25 (ESV)
